Cycling in Northern Thailand

Discover the Thai culture on a bicycle!

This cycling tour in the North of Chiang Mai will give you a very different impression of Thailand’s landscape – far away from touristic paths. You can see a farmer’s daily life, watch working elephants and enjoy the comfort of good accommodations and delicious Thai food. The route for the cycling tour was chosen to show you as much as possible of the Thai culture and the local life. The tour is convenient for people with certain sportiness and of course an interest in cycling.

You will be picked up at the airport and brought to your hotel in centre of Chiang Mai. You will visit Chiang Mai’s landmark in the afternoon: the Golden Doi Suthep temple on the mountain. After 120 steps you will reach the impressive temple where you will have a breath taking view over Chiang Mai. You can watch the monk’s Chanting at 6 pm. The morning is for your free disposal. At 1 pm you will be brought to a local market. Here you can get everything you need for cooking Thai food. You can also try typical food. You will get lunch in a small Thai restaurant.
You will go to a small cooking school at a Thai/German family’s house around 3:40 pm. The cooking class will take place in a wooden house – the atmosphere is really great. You will get a lot of information about Thai herbs and you will learn how to prepare five different Thai dishes.
The cooking class is individual and not a tourist attraction. You will get the recipes as a copy so that you can pamper your friends and family back home with Thai food. You will get back to your hotel around 8 pm.

The route goes along the rice fields, passing by beautiful temples. Throughout the whole day we enjoy the ever changing scenery. Before we arrive at our resort, we pass the Mae Kuang Dam, take a short break, and enjoy the beautiful view.: (B; L; D)
